Students and teachers clean yards of education institutions

Students and teachers of Chisinau schools cleaned the yards and the territory of their education institutions on March 23, Info-Prim Neo reports. Equipped with brooms, shovels and buckets, the students improved the appearance of the territories. “It is very important to set up more garbage bins. We must look after our city so that it is clean and European. The young people should promote such activities as they are those who submit new proposals,” said Tudor Starceac, a student of “Mircea Eliade” High School. Teacher Natalia Cristea considers there are not enough garbage bins in Chisinau. “When going along the street, you do not have where to throw paper or other litter. There should be placed more bins, as in the European towns, where there are separate bins for paper, plastic and other waste,” she stated. The head of the Division of Education, Youth and Sport Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb said that the grownups can be motivated by this example of the children. “I’m glad that the schools became involved and the students of upper grades lend a hand to the kindergartens. We supplied every institution with 10 sacks and 25-50 pairs of gloves, depending on the number of students. It is a tradition that every institution should clean the yard and the area near the school at least once a week. The classrooms are usually cleaned before the holidays,” she said. The cleanup drive in schools and kindergartens forms part of the campaign “Come on, Chisinau!” that was launched by Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca. It involved 141 schools and 153 kindergartens.
