Dozens of students and teachers were awarded at the 2024 Olympians’ Gala. Thus, diplomas and prizes were given to 39 students who achieved outstanding results at international, Balkan and European Olympiads this year of studies. From all these competitions, the Moldovan students returned home with 52 prizes.
The teachers who trained the Olympic teams were also awarded. The diplomas were handed over by Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun.
"The young people have shown not only remarkable intelligence, but also extraordinary determination. You are more than Olympians. You are a model for your mates, for your communities and for society as a whole," said Minister Perciun.
"At the competitions in which you participate, you mature, grow and cultivate a character that the Republic of Moldova needs today to build the future," said Valentina Chicu, the President’s adviser on education,.
For an award at international Olympics, the young people received 40,000 lei for a gold medal, 30,000 lei for silver, 20,000 lei for bronze and 10,000 lei for an honorable mention.
For an award at the Balkan and European Olympics, 20,000 lei was offered to those who won gold, 15,000 lei for silver, 10,000 lei for bronze and 5,000 lei for an honorable mention.
"Dear parents and teachers, you were able to motivate the students to advance on this difficult path of knowledge. We are proud and say with certainty that Moldova has a future," said Constantin Babuc, international Olympian in biology, a student of "N. Testemitanu" Sate University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
The Government allocated over 2 million lei for awarding the students who medaled at Olympiads and at regional and international competitions.
