Student of UTM infected with COVID-19, dorm in quarantine

A student of the Technical University of Moldova (UTM) was diagnosed with COVID-19. The dorm where he lives will be in quarantine for 14 days, IPN reports.

According to UTM rector Viorel Bostan, the University’s administration on March 19 was informed by the Chisinau Public Health Center that a student of the UTM tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The student left dorm No. 1 of the UTM on March 13 following the suspension of the educational process and went to his native place.

The dorm was placed under quarantine. The state of health of the students living there is monitored daily. The students are fed at the University’s expense and are involved in online academic activities.

Viorel Bostan noted that after relatives of some of the students held in quarantine behaved aggressively, he asked that a police post should be set up at the dorm.
