The heavy rain that fell on September 12 and 13 caused floods in a number of settlements of Gagauzia. In order to reduce the effects of the natural disaster, teams of the Gagauz Department for Emergencies takes steps to intervene immediately when necessary, IPN reports.
Svetloie village of Comrat district was the worst hit. There were flooded more than 70 houses and a large area of farmland. According to the Gagauz authorities, the emergencies services work under a special regime. The levees are being reinforced. The road maintenance company “Drumuri-Comrat” is lending a hand. A special commission is assessing the damage caused by the torrential rain in the region.
Many homes were flooded in villages Chiriet-Lunga and Cazaclia. According to the Governor of Gagauzia Mihail Formuzal, the teams of the Department for Emergencies are on the alert and promptly respond to the people’s calls.
