Structure of National Food Safety Agency to be optimized

The structure of the National Food Safety Agency will be optimized and the institution will work based on new regulations, IPN reports, with reference to a Government decision.

The Agency will have responsibilities in the following areas: sanitary-veterinary, phytosanitary and plant protection, animal safety, production and circulation of wine and alcoholic beverages, consumer protection in the food sector, occupational safety and observance of licensing conditions.

There was also approved the list of frontier inspection posts and local subdivisions and the list of public institutions managed by the Agency. These are: the National Veterinary Diagnostic Center; the Central Laboratory for Testing Alcoholic/Non-Alcoholic Beverages and Canned Products, and the Central Phytosanitary Laboratory.

The changes were made following the reorganization of the Agency and the extension of its duties in the context of the state inspections reform.
