Violent winds gusts caused damages in Chisinau City on Thursday afternoon, July 5, blowing down a number of trees. City arborists reported over 40 cases of downed trees until 4.00pm. The General Department for Public Transport and Communication Lines stated that because of a tree blown down on the power network in Muncesti Street the transport services in the area were disrupted for an hour. Also, on Hancesti and Grenoble streets, close to the Codru Park, trees fell down on the roadway, thus obstructing the traffic. Because of the storm, partial power cuts were registered in the City Centre, on Hancesti Street, in Schinoasa neighbourhood and in Sangera town. In Cruzesti village, the gusts damaged 25 slate sheets covering an unfinished building. 6 emergency situation squads from the Green Spaces Management Association, as well as from the “Union Fenosa” Company and from the Chisinau Emergency Situations Services are working to liquidate wind’s consequences. The authorities promised to liquidate by the end of the day all the consequences of the bad weather.
