Stricter requirements concerning food product labeling

Consumers will have access to more detailed information about the purchased food products. The Government approved the supplementing of the national normative framework with provisions saying the labels should contain information about substances or ingredients that can cause allergies or intolerance, IPN reports.

Also, the food business operators will be obliged to adjust the labels and indicate the country of origin of the product for cases when the primary ingredient has another origin than the finished product.

The mention “Fed without genetically modified organisms” is voluntary food information for poultry/pork and products that contain over 50% of meat and for eggs.
