Strelets, Medvedev hold phone conversation

Moldovan Prime Minister Valeriu Strelets and his Russian counterpart Dmitri Medvedev held a phone conversation Friday to discuss a broad range of issues on the bilateral agenda, the Moldovan Government said in a press release.

The interlocutors agreed to advance the political dialogue at different levels, to develop trade and economic cooperation, as well as cooperation in the field of energy and in the humanitarian area. Further, the two prime ministers spoke in favor of resuming the work of the Moldova-Russia Commission on Economic Cooperation as soon as possible, after its last meeting was held in 2012.

A separate topic was the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict. The interlocutors highlighted the need to reinvigorate negotiations and take concrete steps to build confidence between Chisinau and Tiraspol. Valeriu Strelets argued for the completion of the withdrawal of Russian troops from Moldovan territory.

The Moldovan prime minister invited his Russian counterpart to pay a visit to Moldova.
