The acting head of the Liberal Democratic Party, after the meeting with President Nicolae Timofti on November 23, said it’s no use having discussions with the Democratic Party until the representatives of this party do not realize that they are the ‘only ones who are responsible’ for the political crisis and until they do not change their rhetoric towards the PLDM, IPN reports.
Valeriu Strelet said that in the meeting with the head of state he reiterated the PLDM’s position about the essence of the political crisis and the preconditions that the Lib-Dems see as fundamental for creating a dialogue platform. The PLDM ascertains that the Democrats not only do not show interest in having discussions with the Lib-Dems, but also diminish the chances of forming a new government.
“We explained that this political moment is crucial and could be the only opportunity for taking the country out of captivity. We want to convince the dialogue partners that we need a roadmap for ensuring the independence of the state institutions and we need a government that will enjoy the support of the people from the moment it is invested. I mean we must have an apolitical Premier. We have politically unaffiliated candidates and will make names public when the other parties declare that they want a pro-European majority and will accept to name an apolitical Prime Minister,” stated the ex-Premier.
As to the information that an EU mediator would come to Chisinau to reconcile the pro-European parties, Valeriu Strelet said the European political families proposed delegating a mediator accepted by everyone, but a decision in this respect hasn’t been yet taken.
