Strelet government will fall, experts

The Strelet Government could be dismissed by the censure motion that the Socialists intend to submit next week. This would give a green light to the pro-Russian forces to come to power. Such conclusions were formulated in the talk show “Politics” on TV7 channel, IPN reports.

Constitutional law expert Vitali Catana believes the dismissal of the current Cabinet will lead to the coming to power of the pro-Russian forces. “The politicians from the ruling alliance should learn from Romania’s experience. They recurrently arrest by an influential businessman or politician there. The fight against corruption in Romania derived from the political rivalry between Traian Basescu and Adrian Nastase. Filat’s arrest should not lead to the dismemberment of the pro-European alliance. I now see no alternative to this alliance except for early elections and a coalition of the left. We already punished our politicians once and punished them so harshly that the Communists came to power and the consequence of this governance continues to be felt,” he stated.

Anticorruption expert Mariana Kalughin considers the fall of the Strelet government is inevitable. “The Strelet Government will fall sooner or later. It is about the credibility of the political class. Strelet said he will implement the European agenda. This includes the reformation of the prosecution service and the modification of the method of naming the prosecutor general and judges of the Supreme Court of Justice. These reforms have been postponed. It’s not known how patient the coalition colleagues of Strelet are,” she said.

Stanislav Pavlovschi, one of the leaders of the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth”, said the problem does not reside in the fall of the current government, but rather in the maintenance of the oligarchic system. “The problem goes beyond the fall of the Strelet Government. It’s known that the country is managed from behind by one person and this person is now interested in the own security and the safety of his property. The question is to what extent is out society ready to oppose this oligarchy,” he stated.

Director of the Institute of Political Research and Consultancy “Politicon” Anatol Taranu considers the dismissal of the Strelet Government is inevitable and this fact will represent a new blow for the PLDM.
