The leaders of the Alliance for European Integration expressed their support for the Government headed by Valeriu Strelet. These said in Parliament that the new Cabinet will have to work hard to overcome the difficult situation witnessed now in the country. MPs of the opposition criticized the new governmental team, saying it will not manage to achieve the set objectives, as the previous Governments, and will fall in several months, IPN reports.
The head of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat said that in a country where there is no administration and executive power, there is also no functionality. Now the new Government will have to create that functional system that will ensure the welfare needed by the people. The vote for the executive represents a powerful incentive for this crisis to be overcome. The new Cabinet will have difficult tasks as the country faces serious problems, while the people’s confidence is at the lowest level and should be restored.
The chairman of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu said that now Moldova is at a new beginning and the new executive inspires confidence that it is able to work efficiently. The new Cabinet includes old and new names, but all of the members have one goal – to ensure stability.
The Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu noted the current situation is rather difficult and can be overcome by implementing reforms in all the key areas and by reforming mentality. The MPs and ministers of the Liberal Party assumed responsibility and expect their colleagues to do the same. Those who level criticism should stop and start work.
Socialist MP Igor Dodon said that nothing good happened since the first Alliance for European Integration was formed six years ago. The debts and the level of poverty increased, while the volume of investments decreased. There were invested four Governments and none of them completed its duties. The new Cabinet comes in a period of crisis, but the rulers did nothing but divided the posts, without caring about the people.
The Communist leader Vladimir Voronin stated that society is divided and none of the governments of the Alliance managed to identify a mechanism to identify real specialists who will serve the interests of the people. The previous governmental teams didn’t honor their commitments and didn’t implement their programs until the end. Voronin called on his colleagues to have a dialogue and solve people’s problems.
Unaffiliated MP Iurie Leanca said the same mistakes are being made. The governing alliance was formed in non-transparent conditions. Only the party interests were taken into account, ignoring people’s interests.
Parliament on July 30 gave a vote of confidence to the Government headed by Valeriu Strelet. The Cabinet was invested by the votes of 52 MPs of the Liberal Democratic Party, the Democratic Party and the Liberal Party. The MPs of the Party of Socialists and the Party of Communists voted against, while unaffiliated lawmakers Iurie Leanca, Eugen Carpov and Nicolae Juravschi abstained.
