Several streets in Chisinau will be closed for vehicle traffic this week, on Thursday and Friday, for hazardous trees to be taken down. While until recently tree surgery works were carried out at night, in order not to block the traffic, the decision to work during daytime came after complaints from the residents that the sawing was disturbing their sleep. Some people even called the police and one municipal official was arrested. Other streets will be closed for traffic in the next weeks, as the number of tree surgeons is too little to handle the estimated 8,000 hazardous trees in a short period of time.
