The holes in streets in Chisinau, including in the yards of apartment buildings, during the next two months will be stopped up. There will not be placed only sawdust, as the previous years. The workers will cut the asphalt around the holes and will put equalizing layers and then the top layer, acting mayor Silvia Radu stated in a news conference after a meeting of the specialized municipal services, IPN reports.

Silvia Radu said the works will include the repair of sidewalks and modification of curbs so as to facilitate the movement of persons with special needs and mothers with wheelchairs.

The works will be performed during the day. Silvia Radu called on the drivers to be patient and to obey the road signs that will be placed on a temporary basis.

The Transport Division has a budget of 125 million lei for such works this year. Those in charge will risk losing their jobs if the works are of a poor quality.

The acting mayor said the measure is not electoral in character, noting she hasn’t yet decided whether to run for the mayoralty of Chisinau or not.

Silvia Radu announced that the general repair of streets will start in June, according to the capital investment plan.
