A number of streets in the center of Chisinau will be inaccessible to traffic between September 23, 1am, and September 24, 7pm. In connection with the running race Chisinau Big Hearts Marathon, the section of Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt Blvd between the streets Gavriil Bănulescu – Bodoni and Pushkin will be closed to traffic. The public transport routes that cross the central square of the capital city will be diverted onto adjoining streets, IPN reports.
On September 23, trolleybus routes No. 1, 4, 5, 8, 22, 34 will go along București St in both directions. Trolleybus route No. 30 and bus routes No. 5, 9, 11 and 26 will also use the adjoining streets.
On September 24, public transport will also be reorganized.
Under an order made by the mayor general of the municipality of Chisinau, the events as part of the marathon on September 23 will take place in the Great National Assembly Square between 7:30am and 5:00pm, including the Sport Expo exhibition, children’s race Kids Run Day and the race Fun Run. The main marathon will take place on September 24 in the morning , for the 5 km, 10 km, 21 km, 42 km races.
This year, Chisinau Big Hearts Marathon is not only a competition. It will also support children with cancer who are receiving treatment at the Oncological Institute. This way, 1% of the registration tax will be directed to the Association “Life Without Leukemia”, which offers continues support to children with cancer admitted to the Onco-Hematologic Pediatric Section.
On September 23, the National Olympic and Sports Committee of Moldova and the Foundation of Olympic Champions will stage the eighth edition of the Olympic ECOFest 2023. Starting at 9:30, Valea Morilor Park will host volleyball, badminton, beach soccer, pentathlon, modern karate, taekwondo competitions and also the Golden Canoe kayak-canoe competition.
National Olympic and Sports Committee president Nicolae Juravschi said the event is held to encourage more people to take part in sports events. Olympic ECOFest 2023 is held as part of the European Week of Sport and will involve about 20 national sports federations that will show their value and will urge the young people to become involved in the program.
