Street will be built in Chisinau to connect Ciocana and Rascani

The Chisinau councilors allocated another 50 million lei from the local budget for repairing and building streets. Thus, the budget of the Road Management Section for 2010 totals 100 million lei, Info-Prim Neo reports. “At least 500 million lei is needed annually during 10 years to rehabilitate all the streets in Chisinau,” said Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca. Unaffiliated councilor Mihai Severovan suggested holding an international contest to invite tenders for repairing the roads in the capital city. According to Dorin Chirtoaca, such a possibility is being examined. A project to repair ten streets will be soon put up at an auction. Speaking about the money allocated from the budget for this year, the head of the General Public Transport and Communications Division Veaceslav Tarna said a part of the sum will go to build the road that will connect the districts of Ciocana and Rascani, between Igor Vieru and Studentilor streets. The 50 million lei was initially planned for constructing an apartment building for poor families. Dorin Chirtoaca said this project will be abandoned as the Government intends to implement the project “My House” to ensure the underprivileged persons' access to low interest loans.
