Street lighting in localities within the Transnistrian region will be switched off at 20:00 due to the energy crisis, announced the administration in Tiraspol. Dangerous road sections and major traffic hubs will remain lit until midnight, IPN reports.
The so-called Ministry of Economic Development has approved a street lighting schedule for the region, according to which lights will be turned on at 16:30 and turned off at 20:00.
Energy-saving measures, including reducing street lighting, began in the Transnistrian region a day ago. Experts have deemed these measures effective, and the street lighting reduction may need to continue for an extended period. "There are multiple options: either to limit household consumers or to reduce street lighting consumption", added the region’s so-called Ministry of Economic Development.
On January 3, starting at 18:00, localities in the Transnistrian region began experiencing scheduled power outages. The region has been divided into 16 groups, and on Friday, electricity was cut off in localities from four groups. Officials reported that as soon as the power was cut in a group of localities, the electrical load was immediately reduced. Tiraspol, Bender, and Slobozia are the largest energy consumers.
