The municipality of Chisinau purchased 500 tonnes of cold weather concrete for stopping up holes on streets of the capital city, primarily those that are used by public transport, IPN reports.
The cold weather concreting works were initiated last week and are carried out by the road maintenance company “Exdrupo”. The use of suppressed asphaltic concrete is another method applied by the company to maintain roads in winter.
Last week, “Exdrupo” carried out works to replace the curbs and spread gravel on the streets Braniștii and Ion Neculce. The pluvial drainage system there was rehabilitated, while 121 road signs were renovated or replaced.
Besides such works, contractors chosen by the General Transport and Communications Division execute works to repair road infrastructure within the Rehabilitation of Central Streets and Modernization of Public Lighting in the Center of Chisinau Municipality Project that is financed by the EBRD and EIB, including on the streets 31 August 1989 and Alexandru cel Bun and the section of Dacia Blvd between Decebal St and Valea Trandafirilor St. In Botanica district, the roads inside yards of apartment buildings are also repaired.
In all the districts of the city, the access ways to educational institutions are being renovated. In the historic center, the rehabilitation works on sidewalks go on. On Mihai Viteazul St, the lower and upper parts of the bridge are being repaired.
