The new national development strategy “Moldova 2030” will be submitted to Parliament for adoption at the end of March. The strategy was to be centered on the people, to include the European Integration agenda and a robust monitoring and assessment system and to serve as an anchor in budget formation, the Government’s secretary general Lilia Palii stated in a national workshop that focused on the interconnection between the environment and health in the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, IPN reports.
Lilia Palii presented the long-term development goals laid out in the strategy “Moldova 2030”, such as the ensuring of decent living and working conditions for the people and of revenues from sustainable sources.
According to the Government’s press service, the objectives were worked out depending on the basic priorities of the Agenda 2030, which refers to sustainable and inclusive economy, social and robust social capital, integral and efficient institutions and a healthy business climate. The document will also include the policy priorities in healthcare that weren’t included in the strategy “Moldova 2020”.
The Republic of Moldova, alongside other UN member states, subscribed to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development with a set of 17 sustainable development goals that took effect on January 1, 2016.
