Strategy concerning diminution of security risks

The Supreme Security Council examined the reports presented by the ministers of internal affairs, foreign affairs and defense and by the director of the Information and Security Service concerning the security risks threatening Moldova in the current geopolitical situation in the region. Based on these reports, the authorities are to work out a new strategy for diminishing the security risks, IPN reports.

Presidential adviser Alexei Barbaneagra, who is the secretary of the Supreme Security Council, told the journalists that the security situation in the context of the geopolitical developments is worrisome and a number of states approved new military and defense strategies. An interdepartmental working group will be constituted in Chisinau to formulate a new national security strategy as the one adopted in 2011 is outdated. About ten laws concerning security are to be amended.

Vlad Turcanu, spokesman for President Nicolae Timofti, said that measures will be taken to reduce the effect of particular situations that negatively influence the information security of Moldova. The state institutions are to reach the conclusions needed for Moldova to control its information area.

He also said that the adopted strategy will envision a system approach to security and better coordination between the state institutions.
