Strategic partnership between Economy Ministry and U.S. Embassy in Chisinau
A group of U.S. specialists will examine the possibility of building a thermoelectric plant in Moldova. The initiative was discussed in a meeting of Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar and U.S. Ambassador in Chisinau Asif Chaudhry, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a communique, the Ministry of Economy says that the move is aimed at assisting the Ministry in implementing the energy efficiency programs.
The project is initiated by the company TEC Power and will be implemented at a cost of about US$120 million.
The representatives of the U.S. Embassy were invited to take part in a joint energy mission involving the development partners, which will take place on March 3-4, 2011 under the aegis of the General Division for Energy and Transport of the European Commission.
“Knowing the capacities of the Embassy's specialists and their readiness to share their experience, by a concerted effort we can create an efficient mechanism for examining and approving the measures aimed at implementing the strategic reforms we planned,” said Valeriu Lazar.
For his part, Asif Chaudhry said the Embassy considers the Ministry of Economy a reliable partner owing to the successful reforms that it implemented.
