The preventive measures against the three suspects in the case of the woman who was gang-raped in Strășeni were extended. The information was confirmed to IPN by Violina Moraru, who is responsible for communication between the Prosecutor General’s Office and media representatives.
At the request of prosecutors, the preventive measures decided previously by the court were extended on October 4. One of the suspects remains in pre-trial detention, the second is under house arrest, and the third is under judicial control. The decision was upheld by the Court of Appeals by its 10 October ruling.
The case happened in early September. The press wrote that the woman, who is raising two children alone, was taken to the shore of a pond and was repeatedly abused by the three individuals there. The suspects face up to 12 years in prison.
