Stopping up of streets will end in two weeks

The works to stop up the streets in Chisinau will be completed in two weeks. The local authorities say the works are performed quicker than last year, Info-Prim Neo reports. In the April 17 meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials, Adrian Boldurescu, the head of the General Public Transport and Communications Division, said that the works have been 80% executed. The workers already reached the suburban settlements. The previous years, this happened in June. The authorities say the works are carried out swifter because the streets were stopped up with cold asphalt and the weather was favorable. According to estimates, the stopping up costs this year will be lower. “Last year the costs totaled about 4 million lei. Approximately 1 million lei has been spent so far this year,” said Adrian Boldurescu. Marking works are performed in parallel. The workers started with the crosswalks near kindergartens, schools and hospitals. According to the General Public Transport and Communications Division, about 6,000 square meters have been stopped up so far, 2,300 of which last week.
