The stepfather of the girl who gave birth at the age of 11 was detained. The information was confirmed for IPN by the press officer of the General Police Inspectorate Diana Fetco.

The 11-year-old girl gave birth about two weeks ago. So as not to reveal the girl’s identity, the authorities didn’t specify the Moldovan village in which this happened.

A criminal case was started in this case. According to the police, procedural actions will be carried out during investigations to establish all the circumstances.

The police in Calarasi were notified of this case by representatives of a Calarasi Health Center on December 13. The girl gave birth on January 13.

The press reported that the 11-year-old girl is not from a socially disadvantaged family. Her mother was abroad and she, together with her siblings, remained in the care of her mother’s concubine. The minor reportedly asserted that she got pregnant from a boy who is from another locality.
