Ilie Cazac’s parents on June 15 announced they will give up the protest if they are allowed to see their son who was arrested by the Transnistrian security services in March. Stela Surchicean and Alexandr Vinitchii have protested in front of the Russian Embassy in Chisinau for four days, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We tell the Russian and Transnistrian authorities that we are ready to abandon hunger strike if we are allowed to have a meeting with our son so that we see he is safe and well. Otherwise, we will stay here and continue protesting until the end,” said Ilie Cazac’s father. “The Embassy hasn’t reacted as if we are invisible.” Ilie’s mother said it is inhuman not to let them see their son for so long. “Maybe he is hungry or maybe he is no longer alive,” the woman said. So far, the parents have been visited only by Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Victor Osipov, who said he will make everything possible to help them. A doctor came to measure their blood pressure and told them to keep away from sun. Ilie Cazac, 24, is an employee of the Bender Tax Inspectorate. He is accused of spying for Moldova and faces up to 20 years in jail.
