The Moldovan-Italian relations are very good and a number of important agreements between the two countries are being now negotiated, Moldova’s Ambassador to Italy Stela Stangaci said in the talk show “Place for dialogue” on the public station Radio Moldova, IPN reports.
According to the diplomat, currently there are 35 Moldovan-Italian agreements in force. “We have an agreement concerning the protection of investments. It is very important because Italy ranks second among the foreign investors in Moldova. I consider the accord on the conversion of driver’s licenses is as important. Thus, the Moldovans who go to Italy are not obliged to take exams to get a driver’s license. An agreement on the reciprocal recognition of education documents is under negotiation,” stated Stangaci.
Moldova’s Ambassador in Rome noted that the most important agreement that is being negotiated refers to the social protection of the Moldovans working in Italy. “The strong point from this agreement is that the Moldovans who work in Italy will be able to receive a retirement pension. The Italian Government shows significant openness, but has also reserves as it will have to pay money from the budget. But we will insist. The Moldovans made many sacrifices to work in Italy, especially the women, who represent two thirds of our nationals on the peninsula,” she said.
Stela Stangaci expressed her confidence that the Parliament of Italy will soon ratify the Association Agreement between Moldova and the EU. “Italy supported and continues to support Moldova in its European integration efforts. It supports Moldova unreservedly,” she stated.
