Ștefan Urîtu, Diana Caraman and Ștefan Gligor present priorities for Chisinau in new debates round

The designing of the general urban development plan, increased social protection for the citizens and rooting out of corruption at the City Hall are among the priorities of the candidates for mayor of Chisinau Ștefan Urîtu, Diana Caraman and Ștefan Gligor. In the debates program “I want to be a mayor” on ProTV Chisinau channel, the three candidates competed against each other by making electoral promises, endeavoring to persuade the voters that they are the most suitable ones for the mayoralty of Chisinau, IPN reports.

The candidate of the People’s Will Party Ștefan Urîtu said that his priorities as the mayor general of Chisinau will be to improve the management of municipal institutions, to solve the problem of traffic jams by synchronizing the working hours of entities that generate a large flow of cars and to work out the general urban development plan.

“I have the necessary experience and knowledge. I know the problems experienced in Chisinau and I have a team together with which I can solve these problems. We have 29 candidates for councilor in the municipality of Chisinau. This team is able to bring about the necessary changes so that the people see that another kind of management is also possible. The fact that we do not have an urban development plan shows that there is complete chaos and the people suffer because of this. The designing of the general urban development plan was abandoned by Ion Ceban, but such a plan can solve many of the problems in Chisinau,” stated Ștefan Urîtu.

The Party of Communists’ candidate Diana Caraman said that her party has the experience needed to develop the city and her priorities as mayor general will center on social protection.

“I’m currently one of the most active MPs. Communication with the people is the most important component of my work. Our electoral program is designed to improve the quality of life of each citizen in Chisinau. I’m sure that the people need the authorities to listen to them and I can ensure this. But the most important thing is that I go to the City Hall not alone. Behind me, I have a large and experienced team, a party that celebrated 30 years of its founding and that showed at state level that the country can be developed and that it can gain the people’s trust. I’m sure that we can ensure this result in the municipality of Chisinau,” stated Diana Caraman.

According to Ștefan Gligor, the candidate of the Party of Change, corruption blocks the harmonious development of the city and the rooting out of this phenomenon at the City Hall and the municipal enterprises will be the priority of his tenure.

“During the past few years, we have had a very harsh, trenchant attitude to the usurpation of power, to imposters and corrupt persons who have access to power. We promoted democracy and did our best to stop real estate scams. The Chisinau City Hall now more than ever needs a mayor who cannot be bought – an upright person who is not afraid of anyone and cannot be blackmailed. The biggest problems in Chisinau are due to endemic corruption at the City Hall. This is our mission – to root out endemic corruption from the City Hall. That’s why I’m the most suitable candidate for this mission,” noted Ștefan Gligor.

The debates are organized by ProTV Chisinau channel in partnership with Promo-LEX Association, the Association “Journalistic Investigations Center”, the independent online publication “NewsMaker”, “My Mayor’s Office” Association, IPN News Agency and the portal “Privesc.eu”.
