Ștefan Gligor: Prosecutor’s Office turns Stoianoglo into hero and politician

The government should lay emphasis on the complete reformation of the prosecution service and should liquidate the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases and the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, consider the president of the Party of Change Ștefan Gligor and political commentator Valeriu Pașa. According to Gligor, the case of Stoianoglo is so poorly handled that the suspended prosecutor general can get off scot-free, IPN reports.

The president of the Party of Change said the accusations made against Alexandr Stoianoglo are so poorly substantiated that the case can have another ending than the one expected by society, in the absence of conclusive evidence.

“The Prosecutor’s Office turns Stoianoglo into a victim and a politician as the victims in our country easily become politicians and nice. I thought they are well prepared and gathered evidence as to Stoianoglo’s relationship with Platon and they had some proofs if they authorized searches at the home and office. As far as I know from sources, this is not so. I expect that we will see a week case against Stoianoglo who will come out clean and we will even treat him as a hero,” Ștefan Gligor stated in the talk show “Secrets of the Power” on JurnalTV channel.

For his part, political commentator Valeriu Pașa said the breath of fresh air at the Prosecutor General’s Office does not inspire confidence as the same people from the system who served the interests of the former government are promoted to posts.

“We see the same faces and see that persons who worked in the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office during the rule of Plahontiuc, being used as instruments that exerted pressure, on companies and politicians are intensely promoted. When prosecutors who declare they bought cars with 60,000 lei, when these actually cost several hundred thousands, are named to posts, this small detail shows what kind of persons they are. I realize that they are named on a temporary basis. I still wait for the concept for reforming the prosecution service that would envision the liquidation of such Gestapo units as the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases and the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office,” stated Valeriu Pașa.

Two weeks ago, the suspended prosecutor general Alexandr Stoianoglo was detained and was then remanded in custody for 72 hours. He was later transferred under house arrest for a 30-day period. The ordinary court’s decision concerning the house arrest was challenged, but the Chisinau Appeals Court upheld it.
