Public policy expert Ștefan Gligor announced the launch of the initiative group for creating a new political party called “Party of Change”, IPN reports.
“I hoped that a change of the political elites, of integrity will be witnessed in the Republic of Moldova. I hoped a lot that the institutions will start to function. But now we reached the conclusion that without the involvement of civil society in the politician struggle this will not be possible. Each citizen wants to see a big change in our public life, in the quality of life, in the quality of justice, in the quality of government and all these wishes can be expressed by one word – change,” Ștefan Gligor stated in a news conference on January 28.
According to him, several thousand applications will be collected during the next few weeks and the congress of the party will be held later. “Despite the fact that there are 65 political parties registered in the Republic of Moldova, at most ten exist in reality. If we speak about political projects that really work in the interests of the people, I think this list can be shortened considerably. We have a lot of parties because the political system is of a poor quality and we aim to reform it. But this does not mean that we should not become involved,” stated Ștefan Gligor.
The party’s statutes and program are being worked out. The program will be based on a manifesto that was presented in the news conference today. The party’s logo represents an opening book and a half-open door. They both symbolize knowledge and openness.
The initiative group for creating the “Party of Change” consists of electoral trainer Sergiu Buzu, economist Ion Potlog, coach Sergiu Postică, economist and ex-vice president of the Court of Auditors Tudor Șoitu, entrepreneur Sergiu Dărănuță, adviser to the President on the energy sector Sergiu Tofilat. In the same news conference, Sergiu Tofilat said he already informed Maia Sandu that he intended to become involved in politics.
