Ştefan Gaţcan: Decision to leave PSRM and join Pro Moldova is a personal one

Ştefan Gaţcan, the new member of the parliamentary group Pro Moldova, said the decision to defect from the Socialist parliamentary group to Pro Moldova is a personal one. “This was influenced by no one and is a decision motived by the current situation in our society,” said the MP, being quoted by IPN.

In a press briefing, Ştefan Gaţcan said that while serving as an MP during the past three months, he realized the problems faced in the health system, but his attempts to improve things were ignored. He advised his former colleagues not to launch attacks on him, his relatives and friends.

Pro Moldova group leader Andrian Candu also came with a message to politicians and to the police force. “Attempts are made to cross the limits and red lines. Politics imply political struggles, the struggle of ideas, professionalism, experience, political positions and does not imply intimidation and threats, which have been witnessed in the Republic of Moldova more often,” stated the MP.

Andrian Candu noted that several unpleasant incidents were experienced today already. He addressed those “who dared to break the law”, saying that if such incidents repeat, Pro Moldova will notify the ambassadors, international organizations and development partners.

Pro Moldova MP Vladimir Cebotari said a member of their parliamentary group was stopped in traffic by a group of persons who were already identified. Those persons resorted to pressure and threats with the use of force so that particular decisions are taken. The MP noted they will file a complaint to the responsible bodies, will indicate the names of those persons and will also provide videos and audio recordings of the incident.
