The efforts made by Moldova to implement the European values make the country an important partner for the EU and a leader within the Eastern Partnership, Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Štefan Füle said in the meeting with President Nicolae Timofti, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the presidential press service, Nicolae Timofti and Štefan Füle said that political stability in Moldova is essential for further developing the reformation processes agreed with the European partners and for making beneficial changes for the people.
The European commissioner congratulated the head of state on the obtaining by Moldova of a liberalized visa regime with the EU in a record time, saying this success points to the country’s maturity and its ability to win victories at international level.
Nicolae Timofti said the Moldovan authorities are ready to continue doing reforms, underlining that the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU in the near future will give a new impetus to the efforts made to strengthen the democratic institutions and the country’s economy.
The meeting of the two officials was held in the Czech capital of Prague, where the anniversary Eastern Partnership Summit is taking place. The EaP was launched in Prague by Sweden and Poland five years ago.
