Stefan cel Mare si Sfant Blvd blocked by sympathizers of Renato Usatyi

The main artery of Chisinau - Stefan cel Mare si Sfant Blvd - was blocked by sympathizers of Renato Usatyi, who parked their cars on the roadway in the evening of October 11. This morning, October 12, there was traffic congestion in central Chisinau, IPN reports.

Stefan cel Mare si Sfant Blvd was blocked in the perimeter of the streets Banulescu Bodoni and Serghei Lazo. The area was surrounded by the police. The leader of the Our Party Renato Usatyi told a news conference that the protests will continue. “We repeatedly said that they should not trifle with us and should not mock at us. But we were insulted and the authorities ignored us. We now represent hundreds of thousands of Moldovans who got tired of wrongdoings,” he stated.

The leader of “Our Party” admitted that he didn’t coordinate the blocking of the boulevard with the local authorities of Chisinau. “We didn’t coordinate this protest and didn’t ask for permission from the Chisinau City Hall. The authorities say that our actions are illegal, but when US$1 billion is stolen in the country and when practically no ministry functions, these are considered normal things. The fact that we came out to say “No” to the current government represents, according to them, a violation of the law,” stated Renato Usatyi.

Last night, Renato Usatyi visited the Residence of President Nicole Timofti in Condrita, saying that he was in front of his future residence. “I want to see how the head of state is being protected. Mister Timofti, they protect you not in the best way,” he says in a video recording made in Condrita.

Renato Usatyi called on the population to take part in the large-scale protest that they scheduled for October 15, 12 noon.
