Stefan Banica Jr to sing on Day of Chisinau

Romanian singer Stefan Banica Jr will perform in the Great National Assembly Square on October 14, when it is celebrated the Day of Chisinau City. He will give a recital together with the Orchestra of the Advahov Brothers and Alex Calancea Band. The concert will end with fireworks, the head of the Chisinau City Hal’s press service Vadim Branzaniuc announced in the October 9 meeting of officials of municipal services, IPN reports.

The celebrations will start with laying of flowers at the monument to Ruler Stephan the Great and Holy, at 8:30am. Later, a group of priests will hold a liturgical service at the Metropolitan Cathedral “God’s Birth”.

The festivities will be officially opened at 11am, in the square of the Metropolitan Cathedral. The International Folk Dances Festival “Let’s Dance” will be launched shortly afterward. Starting at midday, the district head’s offices will stage cultural-artistic programs along Stefan cel Mare Blvd, in the perimeter of the streets Mihai Viteazul and Ismail.

Ensembles of education institutions of Chisinau will give a performance at 2pm. The concert dedicated to the Day of Chisinau will begin at 6pm and will last until close to midnight. Besides Stefan Banica Jr, the Orchestra of the Advahov Brothers and Alex Calancea Band, the concert will also involve folk, pop and classical music singers. Fourteen delegations from abroad confirmed that they will take part in the celebrations.

Deputy chief of the Chisinau Police Division Silviu Musuc said Stefan cel Mare Blvd will be closed to traffic from the evening of October 13 until the evening of October 14. Drinking of alcoholic beverages in the central square of Chisinau will be banned.

This year, Chisinau celebrates 581 years of its first attestation.
