Steering Committee of Chisinau Court of Arbitration elected

The Steering Committee of Chisinau International Court of Commercial Arbitration under AmCham Moldova has been elected. The newly-elected Steering Committee will serve the Court for the 2016 - 2018 mandate, IPN reports.

Chisinau International Court of Commercial Arbitration is a permanent body that functions under AmCham, being supervised by the AmCham Board of Directors. The current activities of the new entity are ensured by a Steering Committee. The Court’s goal is to increase the degree of using national and international arbitration and other alternative methods of resolving disputes, including mediation.

The Court of Arbitration’s president Roger Gladei said the local and foreign entrepreneurs need a forum for resolving disputes to which they will come by trust not out of obligation. “During 10 years of work, AmCham Moldova gained not only the confidence of the business community and state institutions, but also an irreproachable reputation. This fact advantages the newly created Court of Arbitration and gives us hope that we can create a real alternative platform for resolving disputes, contributing thus to reforming justice, ensuring real protection of property and improving the investment climate,” he stated.

Among the Court of Arbitration’s powers are to deal with national and international, commercial and other kinds of disputes by institutionalized and ad-hoc arbitration and to formulate proposals for improving the regulatory framework regarding arbitration.
