The public-private partnership contract that was supposed to achieve the modernization of railway and bus stations has been terminated.
The decision was reached after the Government, through a monitoring commission, ascertained the concessionaire’s failure fulfill the assumed investment plan. With the contract terminated, SRL Gările Auto Moderne is expected to hand over in good condition all the assets received in 2018 from the state company Gările si Statiile Auto.
According to a statement from the Public Property Agency, although in May the contractor was notified to remedy the situation within 90 days, this did not happen.
The concession contract was signed on December 17, 2018 with SRL Gările Auto Moderne, for a term of 25 years. Under the contract, the private partner undertook to modernize 30 railway stations and bus stations within a maximum of three years.
