Moldova’s internal state debt to the National Bank amounted in July to MDL 2 bln 581 mln (about USD 200 mln), being entirely constituted of the debts from the previous years. This year, the Government did not take any new credits from the National Bank. Of the total debt, MDL 2.181 bln are credits incurred in the previous years. The annual interest for these debts constitutes 7.3%. Another MDL 400 mln are (HVS) state bonds obtained in the portfolio of NBM as a result of the previously offered debts’ conversion. The monetary and currency policy for 2006 includes limiting the debt of the Government to NBM up to the level of MDL 2 bln 492.2 mln. During the first 7 months of 2006, the state managed to reduce the debt to NBM by MDL 30 mln, and in order to integrate in the limits of the settled policy it must pay until the end of this year MDL 88.8 mln more.
