The statements about the termination of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement made by President Igor Dodon in Moscow are dangerous and should not be neglected, said invitees to the talk show “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.
Ex-Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said Igor Dodon took a step backward by the statements he made in the capital of Russia. “The Russian Federation was imposed economic sanctions after it annexed Crimea and started the war in Ukraine. Dodon’s statements take us in the wrong direction. His actions confuse Moldovan society and this is a reason for concern. His assertions mean the start of the second policy in the state. But in such a small country as ours, this cannot be permitted,” stated the politician.
Editorialist Nicolae Negru considers Dodon’s argument concerning the Eastern market is not plausible. “Statistics show exports to the European market are larger than exports to the Russian market and it was so even when Dodon was a heavyweight of the Party of Communists. I see no logic in renouncing a market that brings more profit. We cannot ignore the Eastern market, but renouncing the European market in favor of the Eastern one is something aberrant,” said the journalist.
