Statements about Russia terrorist attack: Terror breeds only terror

Any terrorist attack must be strongly condemned, be it terrorism against peaceful people or state terrorism, manifested by the aggression of one country against another. Also, the main lesson to be learned is that terror breeds only terror, said experts invited to a public debate staged by IPN News Agency, referring to the Russian terrorist attack that claimed about 140 lives and injured others.

“Any terrorist attack is reprehensible and we must firmly condemn it, whether it is terrorism against peaceful people or state terrorism, manifested by the aggression of one state against another. The lesson we can learn is that terror breeds only terror,” said the permanent expert of IPN’s project Igor Boțan.

He noted that a proverb says “who sows the wind will harvest the whirlwind” and we unfortunately see that. “The citizens of the Republic of Moldova must understand this and condemn all acts of terrorism, either against civilians or state terrorism, manifested by the aggression of one state against another,” stated the expert.

Habilitated doctor of history Valentin Constantinov, a senior scientific researcher at the Institute of History of the Moldova State University, said that what happened last Friday at the Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk, a Moscow suburb, was horrible. It must be condemned and prevented in the future. This is a horrible thing that clearly shows the absolute fiasco of the Putin regime in the Russian Federation.

“No matter how much we try to isolate ourselves from these events, we will not succeed. Let’s remember that relatively not long ago a Muslim extremist also opened fire on people at the Chisinau Airport. There were victims. We are part of this interdependent world and we bear the consequences. We must be ready and watchful to other such attempts,” said Valentin Konstantinov.

MP of the Party of Action and Solidarity Vasile Șoimaru, a signatory of the Declaration of Independence, said that this terrorist attack reminded him of other previous attacks. “It reminded me of the two blocks with Russian residents which were blown up. It reminded me of the two wars in Chechnya. It all happened around particular events. Nothing strengthens Russian society, poor Russian society, more than these terrorist attacks. But the attacks come from the opposite direction, from the spot,” stated Vasile Șoimaru.

On Friday evening, reportedly four armed persons opened fire from Kalashnikov guns on the crowd at the Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk, where a concert was to take place. The attackers threw a grenade or an incendiary bomb, which started a fire. Video showed panic as the attack unfolded, with crowds of people huddling together, screaming and ducking behind cushioned seats as gunshots started echoing in the vast hall.

With reference to U.S. officials, The New York Times said the United States confirmed reports that the Islamic State claimed responsibility for the Crocus terrorist attack.

According to updated information, around 140 people died in the shooting, including three children. The people died from gunshots or from fumes as a result of the fire.
