Statement of Joint Commission for European Integration adopted in Bucharest

The Joint Commission for European Integration between the Parliament of Romania and the Parliament of Moldova welcomes the positive results that Moldova achieves in strengthening institutions and good governance in the conditions of a complex geopolitical context and expects that these efforts will be justly appreciated on the occasion of the upcoming Eastern Partnership Summit of Brussels. The Statement of the sixth meeting of the Commission was adopted in Brussels on November 21, IPN reports.

The Commission calls on the Moldovan authorities to determinedly advance on the path of democratic reforms, with the support of Romania and the European Union. “The Joint Commission for European Integration between the Parliament of Romania and the Parliament of Moldova calls on the executives of the two states to implement the agreed projects in the economic, education and labor force sectors. In this regard, the Joint Commission for European Integration affirms its readiness to support the measures agreed at the bilateral level. Romania and Moldova must implement all the measures needed to ensure energy security and improve the interconnection in the energy and transport sectors,” says the Statement.

The document underlines the necessity of devoting special attention to the implementation of the Association Agreement/Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement given the positive contribution of these agreements to the commercial and economic relations between the European Union and the Republic of Moldova and to the facilitation of the structural reforms and enhancement of attractiveness of the business community.

The meeting of the Joint Commission for European Integration between the Parliament of Romania and the Parliament of Moldova was held in Brussels on November 20-21, before the Eastern Partnership Summit that will take place in Brussels on November 24 and in connection with the agreeing of the joint priorities for the period during which Romania will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, as from 2019.
