Over 700,000 households, i.e. 1,441,549 people, applied for energy compensation during this year's heating season. The compensation will vary between 300 and 800 lei per month, depending on the degree of vulnerability of consumers, IPN reports.
"The people will not pay more for heat compared with last winter," Prime Minister Dorin Recean posted on Facebook. PAS MP Radu Marian made a similar statement, adding that "the money will be transferred to the card or can be picked up at post offices".
According to the authorities, the heating sources of those who applied for compensation are: solid fuel (44.11%), natural gas (32.5%), central heating (19.2%) and electricity (4.1%).
