The State Tax Service has warned about false requests sent with the illegal use of the institution's identity. The scam consists in sending messages to taxpayers' email addresses, illegally using the identity of the Service, with the request to present documents in connection with additional checks performed by the tax authority, making reference to a normative document repealed in 2017, IPN reports.

The institution recommends taxpayers to be wary of any information received from dubious persons given the intensification of online scams with the illegal use of the identity of the State Tax Service. Such messages must be ignored and the victims should immediately inform the law enforcement agencies, as well as the State Tax Service or other competent institutions.
