The head of the State Main Tax Inspectorate Ion Prisacaru was questioned by officers of the National Anticorruption Center on July 30 after he said in a TV program that he was offered 100,000 bribe, but he refused it. After the questioning that lasted for about two hours, Ion Prisacaru said he cannot reveal information as he may influence the investigation, but asserted that he is no longer threaded as when he refused the bribe, IPN reports.
“My life is now quieter and I’m not confronted by this situation,” stated Ion Prisacaru. He also said that he didn’t immediately inform the competent bodies when he was offered bribe as he didn’t have evidence.
Ion Prisacaru said that when holding such a post it is normal to come into conflict with someone’s interests. “Those who are interested in tax evasion are bothered by my work,” he underlined.
In a TV program, Ion Prisacaru said that an economic entity offered him bribe for not revealing information about a fraudulent scheme to avoid paying taxes through a phantom company. He also said that he was threatened with death.
