Until October 1 2006, MDL 85.47 was spent for the maintenance of the roadways and MDL 26.74 – for their repairs. According to the Program on the distribution of the road fund for 2006, MDL 143.57 was allotted for the maintenance of the roadways. The data provided by the Ministry of Transport and Road Management show that during the last year, the rhythm of road’s capital repairs was negatively influenced by the lack of construction materials which were imported from outside the country (bitumen, crude oil, and others). At the same time, the supply with these materials, was also negatively influenced by the suspension of cargo trains on the rail road situated at the Moldovan-Ukrainian customs point Valcinet –Moghilov-Podolsc. In 2006, due to social-economic reasons supplementary works were performed on the access roads to Rudi village and to the monastery from this village (amounting to MDL 1.3 mln), on Siscani – Marinici roadway (MDL 800 thousand), Trifesti – Peciste (MDL 3.5 mln) and Peresecina – Donici (MDL 450 thousand). The natural conditions of the last winter caused unpredicted works; including cleaning roads from snow and combating glazed frost. In light of this situation the limits of expenditures were exceeded, official data inform. The data from the Ministry do not say if those MDL 70 mln given to the local authorities from Chisinau for the repair of the streets from the center of the city were included in the sums mentioned at the chapter “roadway repairs and maintenance”.
