State representatives in joint-stock companies likely to remain without monthly allowances

The members of administration boards of state-owned enterprises and joint-stock companies in which the state owns holdings may no longer benefit from monthly allowances for taking part in the activities carried out witching these businesses. This is provided in a bill with amendments to a number of legal acts that derive from the budgetary policy for 2014, IPN reports.

Currently, the members of the mentioned administration boards receive allowances of up to three national minimum salaries (600 to 1,800 lei). According to the Ministry of Finance, in most of the cases these persons are representatives of the public administration. Usually, the meetings of the administration boards and the censors commissions take place during working hours for which these functionaries are paid at the main job. Thus, this activity should not be regarded as work done outside the working hours.

The bill provides for the repealing of the norm by which recompense is paid to state representatives in the administration bodies of state-run companies and joint stock companies. It is also suggested clearly stipulating that the persons who hold public posts cannot serve as state representatives in such businesses for money.
