A State Register of Administrative-Territorial Units and Addresses will be compiled in Moldova to facilitate the access to information about addresses. A sum of 2.3 million lei is needed finalize the creation of the system of addresses. The money will be allocated from the state budget and the budgets of local authorities. Some 500,000 lei will be later needed to maintain the system, IPN reports.
The bill that was approved by the Cabinet is designed to ensure the standardization of the procedure and delimitation of the powers of the authorities taking part in the process of assigning and modification of addressees. The document contains regulations concerning the structure of addresses, numbering criteria and methods of naming streets, and the requirements concerning the content and placing of street signs.
The bill is to be examined and adopted by Parliament.
