The total number of electors on the State Register of Voters on January 3, 2022 is 3 283 288. Out of these, 2 775 769 citizens eligible to vote form part of territorial-administrative units of the second level, IPN reports, quoting data of the Central Election Commission.

According to the Commission, the difference represents the persons who have Moldovan nationality, but do not have the domicile or residence registered, including those who emigrated legally (244 859 people) and the citizens eligible to vote from the territorial-administrative units of the Transnistrian region that are temporarily outside the sovereign control of the constitutional authorities of the Republic of Moldova (262,660).

Most of the voters are registered in the municipality of Chisinau (641 423), ATU Gagauzia (129 860) and the municipality of Bălți (101 542). Over 244,800 voters do not have an official domicile or residence.
