The building of Vasile Alecsandri National Theater in Balti and the monument to Stefan the Great from the same city will be included into the Register of State Protected Monuments, Info-Prim Neo reports. A draft Parliament decision in this direction was approved by the Government. “The works of specialists in the domain prove that these structures represent achievements of the contemporary monumental art, so the Government believes that they should be included in the Register of State Protected Monuments and provided the status of art monument of national importance”, the informative note accompanying the draft says. The building of Vasile Alecsandri National Theater was designed by architect Ianina Galperina of Moscow and was built in 1990. It was erected under an individual plan, having an important urbanistic role, completing the sight of Vasile Alecsandri square. The frontal part of the building displays the sculptural composition “The Theater” created by the renown artist Iurie Hvorovski. This composition is already included in the register, having the status of art monument of national importance. Erected in 2004, the monument to Stefan the Great stands in the Independence Square outside the City Hall. The monument, made of bronze and situated on a pedestal made of Cosauti stone, was created by sculptor Gheorghe Postovanu and architect Vasile Eremciuc.
