The granddaughter of an unnamed state official died on Sunday, May 25, after falling down an outhouse. The girl, aged one and a half, was left in the care of her grandparents at their household on Sihastrului Street in Chisinau. She was taken out 15 minutes later but was already dead, apparently from asphyxiation, a spokesperson for the Emergency Hospital said. A nameless man in his late 60s was found in convulsions on Cuza Voda Street after experiencing a cerebral vascular accident. The man is now in hospital care. Another man, 34, could remain confined to bed for the rest of his life after suffering severe injuries in a traffic accident, which occurred Sunday at 17:30 on Macximovca-Mereni roadway. The man was driving a Ford, apparently while drunken, when the vehicle escaped his control and smashed a tree. Among the numerous injuries sustained the most severe is a spinal fracture. A motor scooter, driven by a 15-year-old boy, collided with a VAZ car in Chisinau's suburban village of Bacioi. The boy ended up with his shank bones fractured. On Sunday and Monday morning, the Chisinau Emergency Service responded to 715 calls, including 95 cases of trauma and five brain strokes.
