State officials and military men mark State Flag Day

Senior state officials, representatives of the Church and military men celebrated the State Flag Day on April 27. The ceremony was held at the Ministry of Defense and was opened by a solemn march of solders who carried the historical flags of Moldova and the tricolor, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The flag represents all the military virtues and duties that are embraced by the words 'honor' and 'homeland'. The tricolor is the past, present and future, as Alexandru Ioan Cuza said,” stated Vladimir Mischevca, a member of the national heraldry commission. Prime Minister Vlad Filat congratulated the administration of the Ministry of Defense for the qualitative organization of the solemnities and said that a series of cultural activities will take place in schools on the State Flag Day. There will be also broadcast thematic programs on the public TV channel. “It is important to mark this day, not only because of its symbolism. Moldova's flag has always waved at my place,” said the Premier. Together with Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta,Vlad Filat rendered homage to the national flag under the music performed by the military orchestra. The State Flag Day is celebrated in Moldova the second year. The day was nominated in April 2010 by Parliament, which introduced amendments to the Decision on Holidays, Commemorative Days and Nonworking Days in Moldova.
