State of public health emergency expires today

The state of public health emergency in the Republic of Moldova expires on February 15. The National Extraordinary Public Health Commission is to have a meeting.

Contacted by IPN for details, acting director of the National Public Health Agency Vasile Guștiuc, who is also the Commission’s secretary, said the specialists are for extending the state of public health emergency given the high number of infections with the novel coronavirus.

By February 14, Moldova has got 170,186 cases of COVID-19, with the number of associated deaths rising to 3,651.

Last week, acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi said the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission is expected to introduce stricter restrictions so as to prevent a rise in the number of new cases and to ensure epidemiological security in the country.
