The state of emergency in the Transnistrian region, in place since December 9, 2024, is to be extended by 30 days. The Tiraspol leader's proposal in this regard will be considered on Friday by the so-called Supreme Soviet, IPN reports.
In Vadim Krasnoselski's order, the prolongation of the state of emergency is explained by maintaining the exceptional economic situation. "This is generated by the cessation of gas deliveries and, as a result, the impossibility to supply consumers with the necessary quantity, which creates a real threat to the life of the population and the state", the document says.
The Tiraspol administration announces that the draft decision on the approval of the "decree" has already been drafted and is to be approved on Friday, January 10, at the "extraordinary session" of the so-called Supreme Soviet.
The administration in Tiraspol decided on December 9, 2024 to establish a state of economic emergency on the left bank of the Dniester, but at that time it was not yet known whether or not the Russian Gazprom will continue supplies to the Transnistrian region after January 1, 2025.
Since the Russian gas has been cut off, more than 51 000 households in the Transnistrian region have been left without gas and almost 1 500 blocks of flats have no heating or hot water. Residents also face daily electricity disconnections.
